2023 has been another year with a successful target for our wine family: we have produced our first Blanc de Noir from Trollinger grapes. Weißes Rauschen - White noises is a light, dry, mineralic wine, which appears smooth with a tiny bit of green fruit acidity brittling on the tongue.
Perfect for Aperitivo-time as well as combined with fish dishes.
Baden Württemberg is well known in the wine world as the region of the Trollinger, the red grape which gives the name to the typical “schwäbische” wine.
We started our adventure with these special plants end of 2020, in a vineyard located in Hoheneck, directly on the river Neckar. Even if we might not have a family tradition, our plants are almost 100 years old and their roots might already end in the river itself. When we took over the vineyard, the plants have not been maintained for more than a year and it has been a hard work to restore them in a good and robust condition. However, after one year of hard work, we’ve been able to have our first harvest and our self-produced red Trollinger wine! After this experience, we choose for the coming year, to bottle not only a red wine but also a Rose’. With this decision, we officially started our story as a cellar and gave our wines a name: Vetraut and Voran.
Vertraut (2022) in German means familiar, intimate. Actually the most fitting name for a regional wine coming from plants hundreds years old. You can find a this wine in every typical Weinstube as well as in almost every house in Baden-Württemberg.
The Trollinger shows intense aromas of plum and cherry on the nose. A light earthiness comes through on the palate. Soft tannins and a supple structure complete the balanced overall picture of this red wine.
This uncomplicated drop is best drunk slightly chilled at 15 degrees from a Burgundy glass, but due to its structure you can also enjoy it wonderfully from a classic white wine glass.
Voran (2022) is a German word, it means “ahead”.
We decided to give this name to our rosé, that we produced last year for the first time.
2022 was a very good year for the grapes, the vineyard was incredibly flourishing, the plants have developed healthy and fast thanks to hard work done as we “renovated” almost the complete vineyard. At the end of the harvest we had approximately twice the quantity from 2021.
The decision of making a rosé came up because we wanted to widen our experience and to look ahead at something new. Voran is a lively, young and refreshing rosé characterized by a fruity scent and a lively acidity. Aromas of strawberries, peaches and plums are presented in a subtle rosé.
